NatHERS Assessments
What is NatHERS?
The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) provides new dwellings with an energy rating or ‘star rating’. It considers factors such as location, building materials, layout, windows, major appliances, solar and much more.
Your energy rating is used in addition to a BASIX certificate to create a complete picture of the homes water, energy and thermal performance.
When should I get one?
Anytime from the first concept of the dwelling, to when the project is being prepared for approval.
By consulting with us early in the project, we can advise on the layout and features of the plan before you get your heart set. Sometimes a small change can make a big difference to the performance of a home.
Who needs one?
This assessment is required for some new dwellings in order to show compliance and get approval for construction. Some states require this assessment for all new dwellings. Currently in NSW, it is required when dwellings have a common wall (eg. dual occupancy), apartment buildings (eg. multi-unit dwellings stacked on top of each other) or when a dwelling isn’t passing the thermal portion of a BASIX certificate and a more detailed assessment could improve the dwelling score.
